Anyone can participate in the Battle Of The Artists. Participants under the age of 18 must have parental permission.
You can register through our online registration form on our website. Be sure to fill in all required information!
The winners of each semi-final will be announced after all bands have performed live at the venue. The two bands that win the finals will also be announced on the Alcatraz social media channels.
Twelve bands will advance to the semifinals. They will battle in groups of four at a well-known metal club. The winners of each battle will advance to the final, which will be held on May 2nd, 2025. There will be two winners in total. They can play live on the La Morgue stage of Alcatraz Festival. In addition, one of the bands will be able to co-create a VR music experience with The Meadow.
Starting the 31st of January, the Reputation Round stays live for two weeks. Afterward, the number one scoring band in the Reputation Round advances to the next round. On top of that, a professional jury chooses another 11 bands from the Alcatraz Bash Reputation Round.
Bands can register from the 3rd until the 31st of January to participate in the Bash. February 1st, the Reputation Round starts which takes two weeks and ends on the 14th of February. Afterwards, a professional jury, curated by Rock Tribune will choose 10 winners. They will advance to one of the 4 semi-finals together with the first and second-highest-scoring bands on the Reputation Leaderboard. In each semi-final, 4 bands battle against each other for a place in the finals. The finals will be held on the 2nd of May, where two bands win a podium spot at Alcatraz Festival 2025!
The winners of the immersive music video will be recorded wearing mocap suits, with each band member receiving a custom made digital avatar. Using these recordings and avatars, an immersive music video will be created in a digital environment. The winners will have the rights to use this immersive music video on their own social media platforms.
Winners of the Reputation Round are chosen by a professional jury curated by Rock Tribune. A professional jury will be the judge during the Bash finals.
Reputation is a key metric for measuring your success on the Meadow platform. As a band, completing your Meadow profile will earn you reputation points. You can further boost your reputation by inviting fans, posting quality content, collecting likes, comments and votes. Meadow tracks all earned reputation and displays it on the Battle of the Artists leaderboard.
Yes, both amateurs and professional musicians can participate in the competition.
In the semifinals and the finals you’ll have to play a set of 30 min., with a maximum of one cover.
No, all genres of music are welcome, as long as they fit within the DNA of the festival.
The rules
- 1Each participant has to be a fit for Alcatraz Festival and comply with its music genre and style.

- 3Payments or other forms of compensation for votes is prohibited
- 4Participants must own the rights to the music and performances of their discography
- 5By participating, you consent to us using your content on the Meadow & Alcatraz channels
- 6Reputation points earned by applying bots etc. will lead to disqualification
- 7Reputation points only count if earned within the competition period
- 8Attempts to manipulate the voting process will result in disqualification of the artist involved
- 9Every participant is available from August 8th to 10th 2025
- 10Any intimidation or coercion to obtain votes will result in disqualification
- 11Respectful behaviour is expected, offensive or inappropriate content will result in disqualification
- 12The organization reserves the right to cancel the competition or change rules

By participating, participants agree that if they win a prize, they may appear on the Meadow website and/or Meadow app and other online channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) as well as the website and online channels of any co-organizers, if applicable, with their photo and band/artist name

By participating in the Reputation Round, you agree to keep your schedule clear on the following dates: March 1, 2025, March 8, 2025, April 18, 2025, May 2, 2025 (finals), and August 8, 2025 (Alcatraz Open Air Festival). If you win the Reputation Round, these dates are reserved for the live battles, finals, and the Alcatraz Open Air Festival.
